![]() New Door Tariff Explained One door charge now covers the entire venue at weekends (after 11pm - if you get in before this, you can remain in the venue all night for free) Everybody loves something for nothing but there's some very good reasons for this adjustment: ⦁ It enables people to move freely between the two floors, therefore reducing the congestion we have been experiencing in the ground floor bar. This enhances everyone's enjoyment of the venue as a whole. ⦁ The running costs of the ground floor are roughly the same as the basement, in fact slightly higher. Both rooms have DJs playing great music all night long, and there is no logical reason that the basement should subsidise the ground floor when both rooms offer similar entertainment. ⦁ Pulse is one of the latest opening venues in the city centre. No other venue that opens until 5am does so free of charge. Doing so places increased pressure on our door team. And while we have total faith in them, it makes no sense to offer free entry to attract customers when the entertainment we pay to put on already attracts so many. ⦁ We are in the process of completing a £125,000 refurbishment on the basement club and plan further improvements upstairs. We continually invest in the venue and have done this without an increase in door charge for TEN years. In 2007 when we opened, entry to the basement on a Saturday night was £5. In 2016, entry to the entire venue on Friday & Saturday is £4 or less for the majority of the night. ⦁ We are also improving the quality of our products. We have replaced our entire draught system with a better variety of products. We have replaced our house vodka with a branded product and from this week our house cola will be Coca-Cola. All this without any increase to drinks prices - and we're able to justify this by no longer having the basement door charge subsidise the ground floor. ![]() 3 CHURCHILL WAY CARDIFF CF10 2HD |
